Quick Fixes:

Check Wi-Fi connection.

Re-log into the account that requires calendar synchronization.

Update Calendar software.

Check that calendar syncs with your account

Tap Passwords & accounts

Find the google account that you want to sync, tap in.

Tap Account sync, make sure account sync is on for "calendar"
Make sure calendar storage is turned on

Tap Apps

Tap See all Apps to get the list of all apps

On the top right, tap three dots to open the show system

Find the calendar storage, make sure it is turned on

When your device runs out of storage, the calendar app stops syncing
